Merida eBIG TOUR 400 EQ

If you are looking for a great commuter e-bike that doesn’t mind gravel roads, a proper trail, or a multi day bike tour, this Merida eBIG Tour 400 is the perfect e-bike for you! It is both sporty and comfortable so it might as well be the perfect e-bike. Add to this the super powerful Shimano EP8 motor and their longest range 635Wh battery and you have a formidable e-bike!

The Merida eBig TOUR 400 uses the HFS-hydroforming Prolite 66 triple butted aluminium 29er hardtail frame with an integrated battery technology, heavily sloping top tube, and a sporty yet comfortable geometry. Smart Entry cable routing makes for rattle free running.

Wheels made for obstacles

The eBIG TOUR EQ is rolling on 29er wheels which have fantastic rolling over obstacles behaviour. As standard, it comes equipped with 2.2″ wide tyres which offer plenty of grip and comfort. If no fenders are fitted, the tyres can go up to 2.35″ improving the off-road riding characteristics even further.

Perfect protection for your battery

A two-component battery cover offers the perfect protection for the internal battery of these models. The softer (outer) layer reduces noises, seals the downtube perfectly, and absorbs hits from trail debris easily, while the harder (inner) layer ensures that the battery does not get damaged and gives it the structural shape.

Easy attachment of accessories

The eBIG.TOUR EQ frame offers the possibility to fit a water bottle or further accessories like a lock or pump in two different positions. One is on the top of the down tube, while a second is below the top tube. This gives the rider, besides the possibility to mount bottle cages, the option to mount for example a folding-lock or pump bracket.

Safety first!

The system weight of a bike is the combined weight of bike, rider, and additional luggage. The allowed system weight is 140 kg. As an e-bike is already heavier than a regular bike, and as it also makes it easier to transport larger amounts of luggage, it is imperative to certify a higher overall system weight. All MERIDA e-bikes, as well as all used componentry, go through a rigorous and e-bike specific testing schedule that mimics the higher forces and strains to guarantee the rider the highest level of safety.

MERIDA bikes are still very much ‘made by hand’ and that process starts with the many individuals who make up our highly skilled R&D team. From marathon racer to bike packing enthusiast, from track specialist to Enduro lover and from semi-professional road racer to ironman competitor, our team does not only bring experience and knowledge in their corresponding fields to work in the morning but also the undisputed love for everything bike, and the unstoppable desire to make ever better bikes. Our team accompanies the birth of a new bike from the conceptual beginning, all the way through the development stages and onto the production process. But the development does not stop there, as small improvements and upgrades are constantly looked at and integrated when possible.
