Thule Tour Rack
The Thule Tour Rack (also known as the ‘freeload rack’) was originally designed in New Zealand and then sold to Thule and has been copied by other brands since.
The point of this type of rack is that it can fit to almost any bike, even if there’s no mounting points, and can fit either on the front or rear of the bike.
This is particularly useful for electric Mountain Bikes (eMTBs) that often don’t have any way of connecting anything to be able to carry anything while out riding.
This rack by itself is for tying something down or connecting to the top of the platform – eg tying down a bag, or installing a basket on top of (like the Thule basket). If you’d like to use this product to carry pannier bags (like the Ortlieb panniers), then you also need to purchase the Thule Side Frames.
Be careful to check the tightness of all the connections of this rack regularly. After all – it is not bolted to the frame of your bike like a standard rack!
