Shimano BT−E8016 630Wh Battery Frame Mount (Downtube) – Gen 1

Description

If you have a Shimano 504Wh frame mount external battery, then in most cases you can upgrade this to a Shimano 630Wh frame mount battery. The 630Wh battery is a bit bigger than the 504Wh, so you do need a few cm of clearance above your battery for the larger one to physically fit. It’s not so easy to say exactly how many cm you need as it depends on the shape of the tube above the battery and where the tightest point is.

You do need to check whether your bike is “Gen 1” or “Gen 2”, which is quite straightforward:

• If your battery says ‘Gen 2 only’ underneath it, then it’s Gen 2.
• If your battery does not say ‘Gen 2 only’, then it’s Gen 1.
