Description

We tried at least a dozen brands of mirror in the early days of selling electric bicycles in Australia at Glow Worm Bicycles. None of them were fit for purpose and all ended up in the rubbish bin once we worked out their defects. Then we discovered the Mirrycle. Since then we have sold thousands of these mirrors and have not looked back.

Arriving in NZ I found that these mirrors were not on the market, so we reached out to Mirrycle in the USA to purchase directly. We are now the NZ importers of Mirrycle mirrors.  If you’d like to purchase some at wholesale rates for your bike shop, please get in touch

To mirror or not to mirror?

Some people swear by mirrors and cannot understand why some people don’t have them. Others aren’t fussed if they have one or not. It’s up to you whether you’d like to use one, but if you do, the Mirrycle is our mirror of choice.

A mirror can be very handy to be able to quickly and frequently check what is behind you. It is not intended to be a replacement for actually turning around and looking (a head check). A head check lets you see more of what is behind you in detail and it also helps to indicate to those behind you that you might be about to turn. A customer described it nicely to me once “my mirror can tell me that a car is there. A head can check tell me that a car is not there”.

The Mirrycle bar end mirror mounts in minutes into the end of your handlebar with the Allen key that is included. The mirror is a round, convex glass mirror with a wide field of view. The mirror is adjustable to any viewing angle.

You will need to access the hole inside the handlebar through the grip. On most bikes this simply means removing the little round grip plug in the end of the grip, either by hand or with a flat screwdriver. However, some grips are solid at the ends and may require a hole drilled into the end for installation.

Color: Black

Name changed from Mountain Mirrycle to Mirrycle in early 2019

Fits inside handlebars with 13.75mm to 22.5mm inside diameters, covering almos tall handlebars.

Not suitable for drop handlebars on racing bikes.

Assembly Instructions:

1. Cut out the end of, or remove, the plug in the end of the right handlebar grip. To cut, use a fairly sharp knife and poke through the end of the handlebar grip then cut around the inside of the handlebar. If you live in a country where you drive on the right side of the road, cut a hole in the end of the left grip.

2. The Mirrycle comes with two sizes of wedge. Use the larger of the two wedges unless it won’t fit inside your handlebar. Assemble the appropriate wedge to the mirror base using the long bolt and the barrel nut. Put the long bolt through the mirror base and wedge and then screw it into the barrel nut. Pull the wedge onto the barrel nut to secure it.

3. Place the mirror base in the end of your handlebar. Push it in so it is snug up against the end of the handlebar grip. Position the mirror base so that the top of it tilts far forward (about halfway between straight up and parallel to the ground. If you have bar ends, position the mirror base so that the top tilts further down and out of the way of the bar end. Use the hex wrench that is included to tighten the bolt until the mirror base is secure in the end of the handlebar.

4. Attach the mirror arm to the mirror base. Put three small washers on a cap screw and insert it into the hole in the elbow end of the mirror arm. Now put a big washer on the cap screw and screw it into the mirror base and tighten it using the hex wrench. The cap screws are an extremely tight fit when screwed into the brass inserts, to make sure it does not vibrate when you are riding. Keep the hex wrench pushed into the head of the cap screw while turning it. Dont worry about breaking any of the parts.

5. Attach the mirror holder to the mirror arm. Put one small washer on a cap screw and insert it into the countersunk hole in the mirror holder bracket. Put a big washer on the cap screw and screw it into the mirror arm and tighten it using the hex wrench included. As stated in #4 above, the cap screw fit into the brass insert is extremely tight. 6. Take a ride on your bike on a quiet street and adjust the mirror to get a good idea of what your view will be.
