EBT turns 10 years old! All welcome to our birthday party at the shop on Sunday July 12th

You are warmly invited to celebrate our 10th birthday on Sunday July 12th from 1pm. There will be cake, food and refreshments and good company! While it is being held at the shop, we won't be trading as such, just celebrating!

Bring along your e-bikes and their stories, we will have spot prizes for winning e-bikes based on our own criteria, of which age will be a prominent factor! We're also organising a professional photographer to take portraits of you and your bike as a momento from our birthday!

Inspired by the community celebration at the opening of Te Ara i Whiti/Lightpath aka 'the pink path' in December 2015, my designs on a new e-bike shop became more earnest. By this point I had been selling e-bikes from the carport at home in Ōrākei for the last 6 months, having relocated from Sydney earlier that year. The Karangahape precinct was the place to be, already the nexus of cycle paths and the CRL station announced, so I searched for suitable premises in the area closest to the pink path. It came between 2 Canada Street and 29 East Street, the latter taking line honours.

By winter of 2016, we were open, trading in those times as "Electric Bicycle Hub Auckland" (EBH) before eventually rebranding as Electric Bike Team.

In late 2020 we expanded our shop size by taking over the entire ground floor at 29 East Street, from 180m2 to 480m2, allowing a much larger selection of e-bikes and expanded workshop operations. This timed well for the start of the Covid years, a rollercoaster ride which ultimately came down to earth sometime in 2022

The last few years of stagflation and difficult economic situations for most households have required hard work and focus. Although the generally growing e-bike industry is at times shielded from macro-economic factors, we've seen a number of our industry colleagues/competitors depart the sector. Thanks to our fantastic and evangelical customers, we've kept on doing our thing, helping transform Aucklanders' mobility and health through the miracle that is electric bicycles!
