Description
When you take your battery out of your Riese and Muller e-bike, you are probably left looking at a gaping hole where the battery used to be (This is not the case in all models, some have a cover that is built into the frame).
This product covers up that hole so that you can more confidently transport your e-bike on the back of a car in all weather.
There is a few different options for this transport cover, depending on the size (500Wh or 625Wh) of your battery as well as the width of the hole it leaves in the frame. This is described as ‘horizontal’ and ‘vertical’, which creates confusion because your bike may be using a ‘vertical’ battery yet leave a wider ‘horizontal’ shaped hole in the frame. This is the case with the Nevo. Therefore, we describe these battery covers as ‘vertical/narrow’ or ‘horizontal/wide’. The wide ones are about 100mm wide and the narrow about 80mm.
Some people no doubt just travel with their batteries in place. However, Bosch advises against having your battery installed when travelling in a car. And in addition, there are some distinct advantages to removing the battery:
- the bike becomes lighter for you to load onto the car rack
- the bike becomes lighter for the car rack to handle while driving, which reduces risks and impact on the car rack
- if someone were to rear end you while the bikes are on the back (it does happen!), then at least you won’t be there wondering if your battery has been damaged
- similarly, if someone steals your bikes off the back of the car (also happens!), then they won’t have the batteries at least.
